Dutch startup Givt in overfunding with Seedrs campaign

Startup Givt, a digital giving solution, has already raised more than € 645,000 with the crowdfunding campaign it launched at the end of October. Currently the campaign stands at 108%. The crowdfunding will last until the end of December 2019. The success of the campaign is largely due to the high involvement of the users of the giving solution.

Every additional euro gives the company room to introduce Givt on the English market at a higher pace. Moreover, the crowdfunding ensures that they can develop the innovative Giving Assistant. This makes it possible for the app to be increasingly relevant in the life of givers and become a game-changer in how people donate to charitable causes.

“Starting from €11.90 people can buy shares in our company. We want everyone to be able to use Givt and it takes a lot of resources to achieve that,” says Sjoerd van Oort from Givt. “That is why our crowdfunding campaign is continuing. Our aim is to exceed 150%. This will express the confidence of our backers and gives us the opportunity to build on the future of giving.”

Charitable giving is under pressure, proves research by the Dutch Center for Philanthropic Studies. The people who donate are getting older. The younger generation still wants to give, but has different needs. Giving is about making an impact, and less about routine and obligation. The giver wants to be taken seriously in his needs. Givt addresses these needs and develops a solution focussed on the giver’s needs and aims to make giving impact focussed and thus more relevant for the new generations.

Givt believes that giving is fundamentally different from paying: “Giving is more than just a financial transaction. It is also about the gesture. You want to show that you care but while remaining anonymous. Think of the street musician. You want to give something to show that you appreciate what he does. But this should work extremely fast, without logging in, and not dependent on an internet connection.” says Sjoerd.
