Moonrise by Lunar Launches Instant Payments in Norway via NICS Real

By connecting directly to NICS Real, Moonrise enables partners to send and receive Norwegian Krone (NOK) in real time, 24/7/365. With this launch, Moonrise becomes the only provider offering a unified, API-first entry point to all three Nordic instant payment rails, Denmark, Sweden, and Norway, through a single integration.

Norway is one of the world’s most advanced digital payment economies, yet access to real-time clearing via a single API has historically been complex and largely impossible for fintechs and payment providers. Combined with Moonrise’s local virtual accounts (vBBANs), fintechs and payment providers can now offer a fully domestic Norwegian instant payment experience to their underlying customers.

“With Norwegian instant payments, we’re delivering a true Nordic one-stop shop for real-time payments,” says Nanna Bergman, General Manager at Moonrise. “Our partners can access instant clearing in Denmark, Sweden, and Norway through a single API, go live in weeks rather than months or years, and scale using infrastructure built specifically for payment-first businesses.”

Moonrise’s platform is designed for EMIs, PSPs, and other banks looking to expand in the region. As a tech-native platform with a banking license, Moonrise supports real-time payment flows with faster onboarding, fewer dependencies, and infrastructure that scales at the same pace as its partners’ businesses.

The launch further cements Moonrise’s position as the go-to banking partner for companies looking to scale payments across the Nordics, opening access to markets that have long been difficult to enter through traditional banking channels.
