Payworks Achieves U.S. EMV Quick Chip Certification with First Data Rapid Connect

Payworks announced today their new EMV certification with First Data, a leading payment processor in the U.S.

Payworks has successfully completed EMV certification with First Data Rapid Connect. Through this certification, First Data vendors and merchants can provide EMV Quick Chip, EMV Chip + PIN and EMV Debit transactions. Additionally, all major credit card schemes including Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover, Diners and JCB have been certified to ensure a common payment experience regardless of card type.

Integrated Software Vendors, Independent Sales Organizations and Value Added Resellers working with First Data will now have access to the next generation payment gateway technology from Payworks and as an added bonus, access to EMV Quick Chip without an additional integration. With EMV migration rates dropping, Quick Chip is the perfect solution for solving the longer transaction times caused by EMV. Through Quick Chip, transaction speeds are cut from 15 seconds to 2 seconds and in some cases even less.

Payworks’ payment gateway technology provides developers of Point of Sale solutions an easily accessible technology with pre-certified software and hardware allowing for payment acceptance via a quick and easy implementation. Through this new certification and with years-long EMV card acceptance experience, Payworks looks to help drive the EMV transition in the U.S.

Our partnership with First Data, which comes on the heels of our TSYS EMV certification, represents a significant step forward in making payment acceptance accessible to innovators,” says Michael Doron, Managing Director of Payworks Inc. “There’s still a long way to go until we see 100% EMV migration, but our aim at Payworks is to show how easy the transition can be when you have access to the right technology.”
