Singapore-based Insurtech Firm ‘Surer’ Hires Former SPH Leader Yue Mei Yuan as CTO

Singapore-based insurtech firm Surer is delighted to announce the appointment of Yue Mei Yuan as Chief Technology Officer. In this role, he will lead Surer’s technology team and drive the delivery of its product roadmap in support of the company’s growth plans.

Mei Yuan joins from SPH Media where he was the Head of Delivery and Technology Business Partner, responsible for ensuring best practices in project management and software engineering while making sure of the timely delivery of projects in its circulations and group marketing departments. Prior to SPH Media, Mei Yuan was the Assistant Vice President for Engineering at Ascentis Private Limited, leading a team of 20 developers. Mei Yuan will be part of the senior leadership team at Surer along with founders, Gordon, Derren and Renfred. His responsibilities will include driving Surer’s software engineering best practices, leading the tech team to ensure the delivery of Surer’s product roadmap and overseeing the evolution of Surer’s tech stack by leveraging the latest available tech solutions.

“We pride ourselves as a tech-first company and it is crucial that our senior tech hires have a good mix of technical expertise as well as experience in leading a growing pool of tech talents. I am confident that Mei Yuan will be an invaluable asset to the company and will bolster our goal of building a world-class tech team with his collaborative and mentoring-oriented approach. His experience in driving engineering best practices will also strengthen the foundation of Surer as a tech solution for many years to come in the insurance industry,” said Surer Co-founder, Gordon Tay.

“I am thrilled to join Surer, a forward-looking company driving innovation in the insurance industry; one that is hugely important but still rather traditional in its processes. The opportunity to build game-changing technologies and mentoring younger tech talents was a big factor in my decision to join the company”, said Mei Yuan. “Surer is a young company and I see the potential of being able to have a hand in molding not only the technical aspects of the product but also that of its culture and vision. I am excited to contribute to the company’s growth both from a technical and talent standpoint.” Mei Yuan added.
